Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin, which simply means that if your body receives too much of it, it’s stored in your fat cells. But unless your taking huge doses of this important vitamin, it’s hard to get too much of it. In fact, most people have the opposite problem in that they don’t take in nearly enough vitamin A (just as most people are deficient in many different vitamins and minerals).

You can get more vitamin A by eating “orange” foods like carrots, cantaloupe, pumpkins, squash, etc. These actually contain beta carotene, not vitamin A itself, but the body is able to convert the beta carotene into usable vitamin A. Broccoli is another good source. Unfortunately, many of the foods on this vitamin A list aren’t that popular with most Americans. If you don’t eat these foods on a regular basis, you should consider taking a vitamin A supplement.
